Final Blog on Davida Interview: Shoes!
Shoes were another hot topic of discussion during our chat. One of my staples these days is the ballet flat. My favorites are by Repetto, which, while a little pricey, are worth every penny. Tory Burch, Christian Louboutin, Calvin Klein, and Gianni Bini (available at Dillards) all make great options at different price points. A couple of days ago, at the airport, I complimented a girl on her adorable grey and yellow canvas print flats and tote, and she got them from Old Navy. Target also has some great options, especially the metallic ballet flats designed by Sigerson Morrison. But in general, I am a firm believer in spending more money on shoes. A gold ballet flat can be one of the most versatile shoes that you own, so spend a little more and buy a pair that's truly gorgeous, comfortable, and that will last. I almost kicked myself when, before I sprung for my gold Repettos, I bought a knockoff pair from Victoria's Secret. The metallic finish cracked after wearing them only once or twice. Cheap shoes are, for the most part, a waste of money, so buy the best you can afford. Beyond ballets, I also love flat sandals, either thong or gladiator styles. Mystique, Jack Rogers, and Cole Haan make some fabulous comfortable options, and Havaianas are a great warm-weather staple. Another must, in my opinion, is the wedge. I used to wear stilettos to the park (yes, really!) until I trashed a pair of Jimmy Choos. I switched to wedges. I have a pair from Charles David that are a muted champagne colored metallic with a foam heel that is so lightweight, yet cool looking. My friends always comment on how shocked they are that I still wear heels, but these are really comfortable and give your whole look a lift. Espadrilles are another stylish, low-key option, and especially chic if they bear Christian Louboutin's signature red sole.
