Hair Issues: Update on Brazilian Keratin Simply Straight Treatment

It's been a few weeks since I've had the Brazilian Simply Straight Keratin Hair Treatment which I blogged about earlier. At the beginning, I thought that it made a small difference. My hair seemed softer and slightly more manageable, and the curls seemed a bit more relaxed. But it's only been a few weeks, and the small difference has all but disappeared. I notice absolutely no lasting difference in my hair, and the difference I did see was so minimal. I think, except for the slight relaxing which I might have imagined, the same effect could have been achieved by a deep conditioning treatment. It was definitely NOT worth 4-plus hours and almost $500. So if you're considering this, and your hair is very thick and very curly like mine, think twice. The results fell far short of my expectations.
I've also made another observation recently. It seems that whenever I have my hair colored, it's uncooperative and unmanageable for a week or two afterwards. I colored my hair last week, and it's been frizzy, funky, and impossible to care for since. Hopefully, the hair color hex will soon wear off.

Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific: H20 Plus Sea Marine Conditioner

I have been a very bad blogger, but I resolve to be better, since there is so much to write about these days: hair color and treatments, stomach flattening plan, wardrobe overhaul, shopping spree, etc. But first, I have a funny story to tell. Last night we had our annual Christmas party. After much deliberation, I settled on wearing a 5-year-old Patrizia Pepe black silk halter jumpsuit that I incorrectly told everyone I bought in St. Barth's. Actually, I bought it at G'bani, my favorite Chicago boutique, and wore it to dance on the tables at this little restaurant in St. Barth's... Those were the days. Anyway, I wore the jumpsuit with my brand new Pedro Garcia gold glitter pumps with satin bows at the toe. But while my shoes and jumpsuit both got their fair share of compliments, the thing that got the most attention was the way I smelled. And in a good way. Oddly, it wasn't my current signature scent, Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb, that got the compliments. It was my hair, which, as usual, had layers of products to tame and define the curl. I started with the H2O Plus Sea Marine Deep Conditioner, followed with the Simply Straight Serum (that comes with my recent keratin treatment), and followed up with some KMS Curl Up Gel, which I like because it is so light. The only one of these products with a discernible scent is the H20 conditioner, so that's what was stealing the show. It's a nice, very thick conditioner with an almost ointment-like consistency. Most people, sadly, couldn't use it as a leave in. I can, in moderation, since my hair is so thick and porous. But the whole Sea Marine line smells amazing, fresh and slightly herbaly without being overpowering. So far, there's no product that is actually designated as a leave-in, but it's worth a try to see whether the shampoo and conditioner, when rinsed out, still win raves for their great scent. I call it eau de hair. It's my new secret weapon.
