I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. My days are numbered. I have passed the age when most women have succumbed to sensible hair, and I’m not far from the age where they also decide to wear sensible shoes. I haven’t given in to either, yet, because long thick hair and high heels scream summer in Florida, am I right? Speaking of summer in Florida, I’d love to share a recent conversation that I had with Eva, my extremely specific 7 year old.

Me: “The heat index is over 100.”

Eva: “What is it?”

Me: “Over 100.”

Eva: “What is it?

Me: “Over 100!”

Eva: “But what is the num-bah?”

Agghhh. If I were more patient and loving and Christ-like, we would still be having this conversation. But at least Eva is content to still be my baby. Most of the time. Except for tonight, at bedtime, when I was kissing her cheeks and marveling at their springiness, and she jumped out of her bed and stretched herself up as far as she could go in front of her growth chart, all 49″ of her, and told me she was big.

Lola, at 9, is in such a hurry. She has rejected most hair accessories and occasionally asks when she can start wearing a training bra. Gulp.

So like I said, my days are numbered. I have, at best, a week until Lola starts rolling her eyes at the idea of dressing like her mama. Or her mama dressing like her. So I am going to cram every adorable mother/daughter matching outfit that I can find into the time I have left. Yes, I know it’s ambitious, but I’ve never backed down from a challenge before. Especially not one involving tutus and pom pom fringe.

I mean, who doesn’t love pom pom fringe? Seriously.

And, yes, I do remember covering some of this in another post: Mother Daughter Style: The UnDorky Edition, but hey, the ideas just keep coming. You can’t put a lid on this kind of shopping mojo. And I’m willing to spread it around, too. I’m generous like that. Here, the 6 best mother daughter brands. (Note: The daughter part is optional. Style, however, is not.)

1. Matilda Jane

I’ve already profiled the stylish Madeline Katzel, the Design Director for Matilda Jane. I was already a fan of the lines sweet, vintage-inspired clothes (their knits are the softest ever!) for my girls, and I’ve since fallen in love with their thoughtful, affordable women’s line too. I loved it so much that I chose coordinating-but-not-matching Matilda Jane outfits for a recent photo shoot, above.  This is clearly a line that was designed by a mom, because Madeline and her team have thought of everything. My dress is super-comfortable (the lace is so soft!), washes like a dream, and features roomy pockets and a style you can dress up and down. Love these pieces as much as I do? Then click on the pictures for all the details! (Lola is wearing the In the Valley jeggings, $48, and Just Chillin’ sweater, $62, and Eva is wearing the Dozens of Dots skirt, $34, the Easy Breezy top, $34, and the Sweet Cherries cardigan, $54.)

2. Joyfolie

I have already told tales of my obsession. The clothes, the accessories, and especially the shoes, which I can spot anywhere, including the little feet of one of singer Natalie Grant’s adorable daughters. It’s safe to say that I stalk Joyfolie, so when they introduced a line of women’s shoes, it was as if my prayers had been answered. And they came at such a convenient time, since I have gone all Konmari on my closet and there may be room for a few pairs of shoes that bring me joy.
