Mom Style Secrets from BeautyMommy Lainie Gutterman

Lainie's Must Haves

I have been so excited about this new series, but I waited a couple of weeks, until the whirl of back to school was just behind us, to launch it. Starting today, I will feature a different stylish mom blogger every Monday, and get the inside scoop on her mom style secrets, from favorite fashion finds and beauty products to how they manage to look fab, every day, in a flash. Today, I’m excited to be featuring hip New York City mom Lainie Gutterman, whose blog, Me Myself and Baby I, chronicles urban life with her adorable family.

Lainie: “This is a photo of me modeling as a mom blogger. You can’t go wrong in a little black dress and boots. This is my husband’s favorite look!”

“This most sums up my personal style: safari green J. Crew jacket, J. Crew shirt, trademark scarf, CHANEL bag and hair in a ponytail.”

“I wear scarves from fall through spring. They became a key piece to conceal my bump before I announced I was pregnant with Ian.”

My engagement ring with a wacky manicure. I almost always wear pale pink or neutrals that don't show chips.

What is your go-to momiform? Any mom style secrets?

Designer fitted jeans or leggings, ballet flats or Supergas, a sweater or nice shirt, my classic jewelry and a good bag.  Without a doubt, my children are always my very best accessories!  I wear flip flops whenever the weather cooperates, and boots and Hunter wellies when its wet out.

How long does it take you to get ready?

I can seriously get ready in 5 minutes flat.  I usually pick out what I am going to wear (as well as the kids clothes) the night before and just throw it on before we leave the apartment.

Name your favorite shops/brands.

I am a bargain shopper and try my best to only buy when an item is on sale.  I shop a tremendous amount online.  It’s so easy and convenient.  I don’t limit shopping to any specific stores, but enjoy going to Anthropologie for inspiration, as well as Bloomingdale’s (when it’s not crowded). I also frequent J. Crew.

How has motherhood changed your style?

Comfort and versatility are now key.  Also fabrics which won’t stain easily. I carry a small bottle of Dreft stain remover and a TIDE stain remover stick with me in my Gucci diaper bag. Since starting a family, I shop a lot less for myself and so much more for my children and my husband.  When they look good, then I look and feel my best, regardless of what I have on.  I also enjoy having Team Gutterman coordinate as much as possible, including matching pajamas for my kids, and same colors of Ralph Lauren polos for Scott and Ian.
