Fresh Faced
Today, I got the best compliment ever. A 17 year old model, who I complimented for being young and tall, said that I was also "young and tall." Her exact words.
I am 5'2", so the height is all heels. And, I would have been more surprised about the youth remark if I hadn't just done something to make myself look that way. Yesterday, I did one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I had Juvederm, an injectable filler, in the nasolabial folds on either side of my mouth. For the last year or so, they have been bothering me more and more. They make me look tired and haggard and, as I complained in an earlier blog, hounddog-ish. And it made me look older than I am. But yesterday, in just a few (slightly painful) minutes in the doctor's office, they disappeared. Today, at Lola's playgroup, a couple of the mommies commented on how good I looked. My friend Marcie thought that I had a facial or gotten a tan (something I've never done) and that I looked younger, but didn't know why. Our au pair, Adeline, as soon as she saw me, said the same thing. She didn't know what I had done - just that I looked younger. Every time I look in the mirror, I am overjoyed with the results. I look like myself, but ten years ago. I feel like I recognize myself again. It's one of the best moves I've made, and it was a last-minute decision. I went in for my second Botox treatment, and while I was in the chair, I decide to go for it. I'd been thinking about it for a while, and I finally did it. I will post a before and after picture here in the next couple of days. The Botox, which I also love, takes a couple of weeks to take full effect, but the Juvederm is instant. There are not many things in life that give me instant gratification anymore, but this is one of them.
