Brazilian Simply Straight Keratin Treatment
Well, I finally went in for that hot Brazilian Keratin hair treatment. It's quite an involved process. It began with my hair being shampooed 3 times with a special shampoo. Then, Nicki saturated my hair with the treatment and left it in for 20 minutes. She then smoothed it with a flatiron, using the smallest sections imaginable. With the amount of hair I have, the entire process took just oer 4 hours. After you leave the salon, you are not to wet your hair or use any hair accessories to put it up for 4 days. This is a lot harder than it sounds! I forgot and put it up for a few minutes on Saturday afternoon before my sister spotted it and reminded me. When I returned this morning, my hair was shampooed again and I applied my usual styling products, leaving it curly. Even though this treatment is called Simply Straight, it doesn't straighten your hair. It is supposed to eliminate frizz, remove bulk and generally improve your hair texture. And, after 4 hours and $400 (almost $500 if you count the tip), I certainly hope it works. I am going to give it a week, and wash it and work with it myself, to see, and then I'll let you know. My initial impression is that my hair does feel super soft and silky, and much healthier. More later!

Unfortunately, I would not recommend it. I did an updated post recently about the problems. For my hair type, which is very thick and very curly, it really did not make much of a difference. In my opinion, if you have to keep asking yourself if it made a difference, then it didn't. It was a little softer for a few days, but I can get that from a deep conditoning treatment, which is what I would compare this to. Nothing more. It did not relax my curl and it did not make it unnecessary for me to use hair products and it did not save me in any time in styling my hair. It didn't even reduce frizz. If you have the same type of hair that I have, I would think twice before wasting your time and money. But if your hair is easier and more manageable than mine is, it might make a small difference. Good luck and let me know what you do!

I just got the Simply Straight Keratin treatment yesterday. I have to wait 4 days to shampoo and my hair feels like it has 2 bottles of hairspray in it. I will let you know if it helps my hair at all.

do you have any before and after photos? I took the classes on this and learned it in and out...even had it done to myself in the class, and my results are great...I do NOT have thick un ruly hair though, it was a perm in my hair, that if I let it air dry my hair was a poofy mess, now if i air dry it is really smooth and straight then I just curl it with a 1" curling iron to get my style. However I did the same treatment on my 14 year old who has SUPER thick poofy hair and she too had an old perm, anyhow she just washed it today for the first time and let it air dry and is super disappointed, it is still wavy and poofy, we need to try to blow it dry with the paddle brush to see if that makes a difference. you can see my before and afters on my website http://www.style-mosaic.com

Thank you Nada for your insight, I'm very hesitant whether to do it or not. My hair isn't too unruly but I just can't seem to style it myself. I go to the salon every week to get it straightened and I'm sick of it =( If I end up doing it I will let you know.
Erin- how did your treatment go?

I've done the global twice and it gets better and better each time. First time lasted three and a half months. Before the second treatment I bleached my hair, something I've never done before because of fear of damaging it. The second treatment has enhanced my colour and shine and my hair is soft ,smooth and straight. All I do in the morning is wakeup and brush and go. I also sweat quite badly while sleeping and I have NO frizzy bits. Fantastic product. Highly recommend it.

Sure! It's Bei Capelli, on International Speedway near Beach Street. It's right next door to Ronin, the sushi restaurant!

I got the treatment done and LOVE it! I've been blowing my hair straight for 15 years and using the iron and for once all I have to do is blow dry it and go! Plus blowing it dry only takes 10mins and my hair is soft and healthy. I've done so much damage over the years with the iron and all the blond highlights - my hair is finally getting back to being healthy.

Put me down for loving this Simply Smooth treatment. My hair is fine and fragile and frizzy. I have spent thousands on products and treatments. I just blow dried my hair for the first time after getting the keratin and WOW. My hair is smooth and silky. I love my hair!!!

I had this treatment done last week (1/20/10). I love it!!!! I am happy that my curls are still around. My hair feels incredible. Moisture is no longer the enemy. $400.00 for the process? Not even. Process & product (for me) came to $250.00. I was in the chair for 2.25 hours. At the end of four days, I washed the stuff out myself (I didn't have to return to the salon). I would highly recommend this treatment!

Hi there,
I am a hairdresser in California and tried a keratin straightening on my daughter (the ginny pig) I would not reccommend this as a service for $300 or $400. maybe at $125 as the effects are NOT long lasting.
As an asthmatic I was sick for three months 3 inhalers, 3chest xrays 3 rounds of antibiotics perdizone.
It was horrible.
The non formaldyhyde does not work at all!
Hope this helps.
